BURN JITA.. and such

Happy BURN JITA day to all of you.

Last night while we decided to hit up Jita to see what all the fuss was about. It was pretty sad. Jita is certainly not burning. The goons have let me down. I expected wave after wave of suicide gankers and really I sat there for about an hour and a half and saw maybe 20 people go red. Seeing over 2000 people in Jita is pretty cool though.

On to the reason you're reading this blog. A funny killmail. This one is actually one that I was a part of, which is always nice.

I fit up a Hurricane in Rens and start heading towards low sec and I realize that there's a guy ahead of me heading in the same direction. I tell my corpmate aiireckits to get on the backside of the gate we have a Tornado about to jump in. We get points and webs on him and he melts pretty fast. Before the pilot leaves local he says "Don't laugh at the fitting!" Well, I'm sorry to say, we did!

One Large artillery and 7 small autocannons? SERIOUSLY?!?! If you want to fit 7 small autos on a ship, try a thrasher. At least when you lose that you're not out 70Mil.

Zaenis' PROTIP of the day:

When fitting a ship, DO NOT MIX GUNS! I'm not kidding, this is not negotiable. 1 type of guns for all your slots.

Remember to follow me on twitter, @purpman, and submit your own LOL-Mail either by EVEmail or joining the ingame channel lolmail.

May all your fittings be smart ones!

First

Greetings,

EVE Online is a place where I spend most of my nights. It sounds sad, but it's true. In my life I have never played a game that was able to keep my attention this long. A game with an extreme amount of depth. A game that TRULY lets you do whatever you want to do.

I started playing in Feb of 2009. At this point it's extremely hard for me to remember how hard this game is to start playing. Learning what everything does. Learning the ship names and what they do. Learning the intricacies of the games mechanics. but with well over 2 years under my belt I know enough to get by.

SO, what do I do in EVE Online you ask? I make it my job to kill other people, or have other people kill me. There is no greater rush in ANY video game that your first ship kill. I remember my first couple of fights I would literally begin to slightly tremble. Sounds weird saying it, but I seriously got an adrenaline rush from a video game. It was then that I was hooked. I knew what was on the line, my shiny Rifter was either going to blow my foe out of the sky or I was going to end up in my Pod trying to get home. Those first few times it was the latter that happened.

EVE is a hard game, there's no doubt about that. The learning curve is steep and filled with MANY Minmatar frigate wreck. Which brings me to the point of this Blog.

I sometimes browse through battleclinic or eve-kill and find killmails with humorous fits on ships. "This poor bastard" I think to myself as I'm laughing with my corpmates on TS. I figure what if there was a website where people could go to get a laugh as well. A place where you can say "F*CK, I just lost my Cynabal, but at least i didn't have a medium shield booster and an small armour repper on my drake".

So with that in mind I will post a link to one I found today. This poor bastard decided to fly his Stabber through Amamake. Anyone who plays this game knows Amamake is not the most forgiving of low-secs in the game. Unfortunately for him he ran into 2 Legions and a Huginn and provided us with a LOL-Mail:

Johnson G Jakuard if you're reading this let me give you a few pointers. As a Minmatar pilot you should be specializing in autocannons and artillery. There is NO reason to put beams on ANY Minmatar ship EVER! Most ships are tanked with either shields or armour, very rarely is tanking both effective and in this case it certainly wasn't. The last thing I'll mention. On a ship that is bonused for autocannons you fit a gyrostab not a ballistics control unit.

I understand you were either ratting or running missions with that salvager in you high slot, but even that is an EXTREMELY poor PVE fit.

Well that's all I have for now, stay tuned here for more lols. I'll try to keep them coming as often as possible.
